The Hungarian Parliament building is not only a landmark but also a hugely popular tourist spot. It’s also one of the largest buildings in Hungary and tallest in Budapest. The building looks gorgeous bathed in the lights in the evening, then completely transforms in the morning.
Parliament lies on the banks of Danube overlooking the famous Buda landscape of Fisherman’s bastion and Buda castle. You can also get a glimpse of Chain Bridge.
A short walk down the bank, you will find the ‘Shoes on the Danube bank’ memorial dedicated to the victims shot into the Danube. It’s quite sombre but a powerful way of remembering those who lost their lives.
Walking from the Parliament Square to the Chain Bridge you can see both sides of Budapest and the contrast between the two former cities. It’s a nice walk from the square and you get to pose like my friend on the famous ‘Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam’ bridge 😛
