Marrakech Museum, another beautiful destination in the heart of Marrakech. Originally a palace, it was reconstructed into a museum in 1997. It is built in a classic Andalusian fashion with fountains in the central courtyard, hammam, intricate tile works and carvings and traditional seating areas.
The museum is located right next to Ben Youssef Madrasa so you can ideally visit both places in one day. The Marrakesh Museum is small but with lots of beautiful things to see and explore. You can see the dedication of my sister as she took pictures of every floor, door, ceiling, ornament she saw! (LOL)
As most descriptions were written in French, Arabic or Berber it was hard to understand what each artefact/ painting was or represented. Thankfully we live in the world of Wikipedia so not all knowledge was lost! The best part of the museum was its tranquillity. Once inside, you were completely shielded from the hustle and bustle of the outside, so for just a while you’re in a beautifully decorated cocoon of peace.
The entrance fee is 50 Dirhams and opening time is 8am- 5pm.
Till my next stop xx
