Homeslice, Old Street | Review
Located in Old Street, Shoreditch, Homeslice is the perfect place to hang out with your girlfriends and gossip over abnormally large pizza.
We ordered cauliflower cheese, aubergine, spinach & harissa pizza; salami, rocket & parmesan pizza; anchovy, kalamata olives & caramelised onions pizza; and the mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seed & chilli pizza. You can opt for a half & half which makes life much easier.
So how was the food??
I personally loved the mushroom pizza. Out of the 2 I’ve eaten, the mushroom pizza was the most delicious and it didn’t leave me feeling sluggish after devouring it. The cauliflower cheese pizza was delicious but it was too creamy for my liking. The sauce was rich and sweet so after a few bites you’re full instantly. The anchovy pizza was great but the anchovy is very prominent so it’s definitely not for those who dislike fish/seafood. The sweet onions are a great way of neutralising the saltiness of the anchovy and olives, this pizza is quite salty so make sure to have plenty of water on the side. Homeslice is definitely not the place if you want traditional tomato-based pizza, they’re adventurous with their flavours so if you want something different you’ll love it. Make sure to ask for hot sauce to enjoy it with the crust, it tastes amazing.
Homeslice is a great place to go with your friends to share pizza and enjoy unique combinations of flavours but if you’re more of a traditionalist it may not tickle your fancy. Despite that it’s still a great place to go and I highly recommend the mushroom pizza.
Till my next eat x
