Located in Chinatown, Food house serves authentic Chinese dishes with some amazing flavours. We ordered mapo tofu, aubergine, prawn skewers, grilled squid and chilli oil noodles. The menu has really interesting dishes from street food to hotpot so you definitely won’t be short of choice.
So how was the food?
Food was amazing. Every dish had strong szechuan flavours which made my mouth very numb but it was a feeling I enjoyed. The dish I went for was the chilli oil noodles and it did not disappoint. The thick noodles were covered in chilli oil and topped with chilli flakes and pak choy. Every bite had a spicy kick so you may not enjoy it if you don’t like spicy food. Another great dish was the aubergine, it was sweet and spicy at the same time and together with the rice it was magical. The mapo tofu was another numbing dish. The soft tofu had absorbed all the spiciness of the szechuan pepper which made every bite numbing but delicious. If you mixed it with rice, it was slightly less hot but still delicious, it almost cooled down the spiciness.
Food House is highly recommended! The dishes are authentic Chinese(or so I was told) and all the dishes I tried were packed with flavour. Highly recommend the chilli noodles and aubergine. The restaurant gets busy really so it may be a good idea to make a reservation.
