Island Poké, Soho | Review

Island poke, belleamis

Poké is probably one of my favourite dishes in world, why? Because it’s basically an open sushi. Luckily for me a friend suggested we stop by Island Poké in Kingley Street near Oxford Street.

Since it was no meat-or-seafood Thursday we both opted for the vegan/ vegetarian option. They have a build-your-own- bowl option or for the undecided there are set bowls. I decided to create my own bowl whilst my friend went for the set.

Island Poke, belleamis

My bowl started with a base of brown rice and greens, topped with beetroot, mangoes, pineapple, edamame, sweetcorn, kimchi, seaweed, chillies and ginger. It was then drizzled with soy with yuzu and some sesame seeds. The bowl had so much flavour it was incredible. Due to the fruit the bowl was sweet however the yuzu soy and chilli cut the sweetness and added a little zing. It was so refreshing I loved it.

The set bowl was similar except it came without kimchi and edamame, and topped with fried onion.

The best part about eating at Island Poké is that along with normal (boring) chairs, they also have a swingset. It really helps set the Hawaiin scene. It was also fun to people watch whilst eating. Great food, great place and great company. Island Poké was a dream.

Till my next eat x
