3 hours in Malmö, Sweden

Malmö was a 30-minute train ride away from Copenhagen so it was a no brainer for us to visit. There are direct trains from the Copenhagen Central Station to the heart of Malmö. The train ride is really picturesque and crosses the famous Øresund Bridge. We went around 5pm so we caught the most beautiful sunset over the bridge when the skies turned candy floss pink, it seemed like something out of a dream.

Since it was already kind of late when we arrived we decided to stay close to the centre and visit as many points of interest as possible. Our first stop was Lilla Torg, a cobblestone square resembling Covent Garden, with lots of cafes and shops. There was a huge lamp in the middle of Lilla Torg which of course was a photo moment. We also stopped by Pronto, which claimed to have the best cheesecakes ever. They were good but not amazing, if you’re a cheesecake fanatic then it may be up your street. They were very dense, sweet and huge.

We then stopped by Malmö Castle, which was eerily beautiful. They had projectors on the windows so it looked like people were dancing in the castle. A little creepy, but cool. Then we stopped by the City Hall and bought some souvenirs.

The houses in Malmö were incredibly beautiful. They were so petite but spacious enough for a family. Something about the lifestyle in Malmö was extremely appealing. I would not mind retiring here and living in the cute little houses with massive windows and high ceilings.

Although it was only 3 hours, Malmö was a really nice city to visit and if we had more time and arrived during the day, we would have loved to do more. If you are in Copenhagen then I would highly recommend you visit, or why not go straight to Malmö!

The cost of a one-way ticket from Copenhagen was ~£10 and took 30-40minutes to arrive. Once you cross the bridge, there’s border control to check your passport so make sure to carry it. After that it’s only 2 stops to Malmö. If you want a cheaper way to travel you can take the bus at half the price but the journey is a little longer.

Till my next stop x
